In previous years, the networks of Wonca Europe published their news in the European Journal of General Practice and this time it is the other way around. We want to share a couple of developments with the journal that may be of interest to you.
First, the most important is that, in June, the journal received an impact factor of 2.478. We have moved up in the ranking of primary health care journals to #7/19; and 54/165 in the category Medicine, General & Internal.

Secondly, we would like to illuminate the publication of the two editorials on COVID-19, written by EJGP's Editorial Team. One paper describes the crucial role of family medicine during COVID-19; the family physicians in Europe are on the frontline of the pandemic; they must be enabled to protect the health of their patients (doi.org/10.1080/13814788.2020.1757312). The other editorial is about the effects of COVID-19 measures on regular care and how general practitioners can respond to this (doi.org/10.1080/13814788.2020.1798156)?
Last but not least, we would like to highlight the best-valued paper of 2019. The EJGP editors evaluated last year’s volume. They each picked three articles they found most valuable and of which they established the scientific quality as ‘good’. The highest-ranking paper was the well-performed systematic review on clinical leadership by GPs in interprofessional primary care teams by Minke Nieuwboer and colleagues (doi.org/10.1080/13814788.2018.1515907). Interprofessional care teams are best led by physicians. Team leaders’ relational and organisational skills, as well as process-management and change-management skills, improved integrated care. Team leaders should be supported in acquiring these skills.
